So this guy at the store after I said I was a trans girl just responded"what trans girl would choose to be so tall you can't be trans." I mean first off I'm only like 6'2. Second I don't even think this guy was trying to be rude he was just literally confused. And I don't understand why.

This came back to me yesterday, a conversation I had years ago with a friend about Commander Ivonova from Babylon 5. For those of you who are unfamiliar, waaaay back in the early 90's, this series had a coded (but to me pretty obvious) bisexual character develop a romantic and sexual relationship with another woman. I was talking to a friend about how cool I thought it was that this show portrayed a bisexual relationship so early on.

My friend, another fan and a woman, didn't know what I meant. I pointed out Ivonova's relationship with Talia. "Oh no, they were just friends."

"What? What do you mean?" I ask. "The last scene before (something) happens to Talia, we see Ivonova waking up in bed, in fancy lingerie, touching the empty space in the bed beside her."

"Oh, they were just friends. Girl friends sometimes sleep together."

"In lacy lingerie???"

"Oh yes, definitely. They were just really good friends."

I had to go online and find stuff by the actor and show writer before she would believe that this was actually a bisexual character in a relationship with another woman.
