I wonder if most people that have seen Brotherhood watched the original one at all.

Brotherhood is for sure much better, but I thought the Nina part was even more harrowing in the original. Original has a good feel to it for the first ~30 episodes or so.

Yeah, the first third or so is very abridged in Brotherhood because it would have just tread the same ground as the original. I wonder if there's a good switching point from the original to Brotherhood, for the maximum manga-friendliness.

I've always kicked around the idea of doing some kind of supercut somehow combing the first third of the 2003 anime with brotherhood and editing it to fit plotwise, but then I remember how lazy I am

I've had conversations about this; there is so much FMA03 exclusive stuff woven between the good early-show content, you'd have to be cutting scene by scene and splicing individual lines of dialogue. It's essentially impossible.

It's why I always recommend watching both serieses. Some of the more dramatic beats in the overall franchise have a lot less weight in FMAB, because we only know that iteration of the character for like, 2 or 3 episodes before they get got. Whereas they stick around a lot longer in the first series.
