So you only watched Brooklyn 49.5?
758
u/owenkop Feb 02 '23
Brooklyn 99 has 8 seasons they only watched half of a season so wouldn't it then be 99/16 (16 because everyone season has 2 halves)
99/16 is 6.1875
So they watched Brooklyn 6.1875

Well teeechnically
Brooklyn 99 has 153 episodes
Out of which they watched 11 (half of s1)
So that means that they watched 99 x 11 / 153
So Brooklyn 7.11764705
12
u/animellama1337 Feb 02 '23
They didn't specify that they watched the first season. It is a fair assumption, but there was no evidence to point to this. They could've started on the last season because it was being released when they discovered the show.

I mean, I'm all for xp curves but like.....the first 92 levels taking as much time as the last 7 is a bit ridiculous though

I like it. Mostly because the humor isn't based on embarrassment most of the time and when it is everyone is good natured about it. The characters feel like real friends and none of them are unsympathetic or particularly unlikeable.

u/TheRedBow Feb 02 '23
Ywah like how in season 1 charles is obsessed with Rose but after she tells him it’s not gonna happen he backs off, where some shows may have had him be the creepy type still following her around like 5 seasons later
169
u/LieRun Chungus Among Us Feb 02 '23
And with time they genuinely grow to be close friends
47
u/ReeceReddit1234 Feb 02 '23
That's because Rosa's friends with everyone. She's the mushy one on the squad
46
u/gingerbeardman79 Feb 02 '23 edited Feb 02 '23
Honestly I felt the "Charles is being creepy to Rosa" arc outstayed its welcome, as is.
I don't think I would've been able to stomach it lasting through multiple seasons. Would've definitely killed the show for me.
Edit: a word
54
u/TheRedBow Feb 02 '23
I really like the bit where Rosa feels like she’s obliged to be extra nice to him cause he saved her life, but instead of using that as an excuse to get like a date or something he admits he didn’t know it was her he was saving he just was trying to save a life

693
u/Ereinisis Feb 02 '23
I agree wholeheartedly although seasons 7 and 8 got a little..... iffy.
657
u/GoEatChlorine Professional Dumbass Feb 02 '23
Season 8 just got way to political and involved in real world bullshit, I’m trying to watch a funny cop show not one about the shitty world we live in
104
u/sprucay Feb 02 '23
Yeah, but their show was basically about how good cops were which was a hard sell at the time. I agree that it wasn't a great season by I'm not sure they could have done a normal season and not got some backlash
61
u/energetic-dad Feb 02 '23
True. Kind of hard to make a happy-go-lucky show about good cops in the midst of some pretty dramatic and well-documented police brutality.
137
u/AssaultRider555 Feb 02 '23
The ending with Rosa was kinda shit too. Like, I get it, not all characters have to end with getting a lover or something but you didn't have to shove it in our faces like that.
68
u/RedRanger_27 Feb 02 '23
And after it was revealed that she was bisexual they treated her like a lesbian. There were almost no acknowledgement of her liking men after the episode with her parents.

What happened with rosa? Its been ages since ive watched b99.
50
u/lolyeet42069 Breaking EU Laws Feb 02 '23
Well Rosa, the most violent police detective there ever was, one that probably wouldn’t hesitate to beat the crap out of someone, left the 99 because of police violence. And while I think it’s good that the show positions itself on George Floyds side and on the side of BLM, it would have made much more sense for someone else to leave the 99. But not Rosa Diaz.
5
u/b1a5t_tyr4nt Feb 02 '23
I don't think that makes much sense, she's aggressive and violent sometimes, sure, but she's also a really good detective and I don't think it's out of character at all for her to leave because she finally realized that the police fucking suck.

Yeah but even IASIP has let the times get to them. Mac’s dance episode was the always sunny equivalent of an after school special
→ More replies6
u/I_Bin_Painting Feb 02 '23
Yeah but you’re not learning anything about those issues really, except that being all those things will get you into trouble/cause you to make bad plans
11
u/gergbeef91 Feb 02 '23
Which is the joke. The audience should expect bad things to happen to bad people. Just so happens to be funny as hell.
→ More replies24
u/saberline152 Feb 02 '23
wasn't that because they moved channels?
Also 8, well half of the cast couldn't stay silent about the issue and wanted to do something, and tbh I think they did it in one of the best ways.
Funny that in a comedy series the cops get held accountable but then you have shows like Chicago pd and Swat where the cops are these cowboys who can do everything and nobody bats an eye

The problem for me was that in Seinfeld the characters didn't develop through the series, like they are all the same people with no change
3
u/paintingnipples Feb 02 '23
Seinfeld characters are supposed to be the one constant while the setting & scenario changes. It’s wrapped around Seinfeld/Larry David’s observational humor & basically making fun of things/themselves. The only constant settings is Jerry’s apartment or the diner where they discuss what they observed but the story revolves around the outside world.
Brooklyn 99 or the office has the setting basically the same every episode(dunder Mifflin/police precinct) & the show revolves around scenarios/characters within that setting so it always needs to evolve to keep viewers wondering what’ll occur next. That’s where u get the need for office romance like Jim/Pam to Michael/Jan/Holly to Andy/Erin to Dwight/Angela

A beholder has eleven eyes actually…
56
u/Evo-Elemental Feb 02 '23

20
5
u/FluffySquirrell Feb 02 '23
Yeah but beauty is clearly in the big main one. Cause it casts antimagic, thereby meaning all the beauty is real and not illusion based
Beholders are just very heavily biased against magical makeup and touchups. Also you'd look better if you smiled more, like us, with our big gaping mouths full of teeth

I see a lot of praise for the series, and not a lot of critiscism like this, so what I take is most people who watched liked it, and some just didn't
Maybe that's just not funny for you, move along, find something you like, and that's it
