Don't forget to email them to remove your credit card as those fuckers will not let you remove it ever and keep it on file incase you want to come back... so bullshit.

70

u/EhaMe3 Feb 02 '23

I dont believe they delete it that way either

39

u/BunsinHoneyDew Feb 02 '23

I had it work for me as I logged in and there is no CC now and I have to provide one.

I did have to email them like 5 times and escalate to get them to do it...

This. They just hope people forget about the recurring charge so they can keep getting money.

Mine was Dec 2012, shot it dead this evening lol. I don't share passwords but I'm not having my devices deactivate on me every 30 days. I pay way too much for this declining platform.

My daughter who is 20 lived with me up until a few months ago. So since she was 9 years old we had a Netflix account together, with myself on one profile and her on another. Since she recently decided to move in with her grandma to be closer to her college, I told her she can still continue to use her profile and I'll still continue to pay. But after this new rule takes effect she won't be able to watch. Since she has access to Disney plus and Hulu and free streaming services like Tubi she decided that she didn't really need Netflix and I decided I don't need it either. If there's any shows we want to watch the come out in the future, we can just watch them at my girlfriend's house who is continuing on with her account.

Do not forget: Piracy is a thing.

8

u/jadataykesit Feb 02 '23

shoutout to tubi. the ads aren’t that bad/long. just watched all the Final Destination movies on there and stopped watching naruto on hulu too. when these prices keep going up, it doesn’t sound so bad to get a bathroom/phone break every 30/45 minutes for a free service.

1

u/Bloody-Crayons Feb 02 '23 edited Feb 04 '23

Aren't there like, no mainstream movies on there?

3

u/jadataykesit Feb 02 '23

you’re not wrong, but it’s free. so it’s not like you’re obligated to anything. I wanted to watch all the final destinations, so it was easy to download and I watched like maybe 10 minutes of ads max between all 5 movies. i was watching naruto on hulu with ads and it was ridiculous. ad, theme song, ad, flashback, story, ad, story, ad, story, ad, outro. tubi only interrupts once with much shorter ads. it’s just a nice option. ig mainstream isn’t the right word though bc they don’t have newly released mainstream movies, but who doesn’t want to watch a classic sometimes without paying? also watched Train to Busan on tubi which is one of my favorite movies of the last decade, and I’m planning to watch this old Adam Sandler classic. I still have my paid streaming services, but those are for shows I’m invested in already. Tubi is great for when i don’t know what I want to watch and see what they have.

I wanna check them and Philo out. Philo is $25/month but it comes with a lot of channels so it might be worth it.

1

u/fuyoall Feb 02 '23

Went to check it out and it's an US only thing bahhhhh

1

u/SteadfastKiller 🥄Comically Large Spoon🥄 Feb 02 '23

Also, new show comes out, pay for one month, watch show, cancel.

Very unfortunate that Netflix is killing itself

35

u/clackersz Feb 02 '23

did it get worse somehow?

41

u/TheGamingStikbot Feb 02 '23

They are getting rid of password sharing

14

u/clackersz Feb 02 '23

Thanks, that makes sense.

39

u/No_Pipe_8257 Birb Fan Feb 02 '23

Also, apparantly you need to connect to your house wifi, otherwise they will deny your access to your account.

So, if you havr colledge, you are fucked

18

u/clackersz Feb 02 '23

wow sounds like a solid business strategy

12

u/Lost_my_acount Professional Dumbass Feb 02 '23

Wow I am the target audience!

How thoughtful of them.

11

u/No_Pipe_8257 Birb Fan Feb 02 '23

You will suffer the same fate as your username soon

98

u/RaspberryDugong Feb 02 '23

If we all all drop the service they will buckle

63

u/Moseratti Feb 02 '23

If everyone gets on board Netflix will be the next Blockbuster.

10

u/A_random_zy Selling Stonks for CASH MONEY Feb 02 '23

naah they'll just increase subscription price and make the people who decided to continue using it leave...

56

u/fuzzysig Feb 02 '23

They about to find out how insignificant they are

21

u/Ugly-and-poor Feb 02 '23

I only subscribe to netflix for 1-2 months a year, because Netflix usually releases 1-2 shows actually worth watching. Everything else is fast-entertainment.

20

u/Past-Cookie9605 Feb 02 '23

I just resubscribe when they have a show I want to watch. I only have one streaming servince at a time, then switch when something calls to me. I love it!

1

u/RustyToaster206 Feb 02 '23

This is super smart actually lol

15

u/NUaroundHere Feb 02 '23

I confess that I'm not really understanding if they'll ban me or not but it would be pretty fucking funny if they do, since I'm the guy that actually pays it and I'm just sharing the password with some family members, who btw don't even use it that often. And they'll definitely won't be subscribing and paying for it.

I'll be laughing anyway when further down the road they'll just be losing subscribers daily.

6

u/Itisturtle Feb 02 '23

Netflix stock up 2.3%, even the shareholders see no threat.

Edit: fixed my %, read the wrong number.

18

u/57victoryrounds Feb 02 '23

people still pay for this shit?

5

u/ProtectionFromStupid Feb 02 '23

Nice. This just reminded me to cancel mine too

5

u/LmaoPew Professional Dumbass Feb 02 '23

Did the same earlier too

Happy cake day!

5

u/devioushooker Feb 02 '23

When does the ban on password sharing take effect?

11

u/jedi1josh Feb 02 '23

By the end of March

9

u/devioushooker Feb 02 '23

Alright pretty soon, well Hulu, HBO, crunchy roll, paramount and others are still password sharing.

5

u/devioushooker Feb 02 '23

Oh wait, how many seasons of stranger things are left?

4

u/EbbSeparate4772 Feb 02 '23

One more apparently Don’t know when it will come out

2

u/jedi1josh Feb 02 '23

Not sure but my girlfriend has an account. I canjust watch with her lol.

7

u/SorrowT-T Feb 02 '23

oooh shit so THIS is what's happening in march 2023. *phew* i thought we were going to be overrun by zombies.

4

u/Subre431 Feb 02 '23

Yeah, I'm so glad this is THE WORST THING THAT WILL HAPPEN IN MARCH.

7

u/Thisguyhere1310 Feb 02 '23

I wish my wife would let me cancel

1

u/ProtectionFromStupid Feb 02 '23

Get her Discovery+. My wife loves that one the most. Its pretty much all she will watch on her own

2

u/RudolfMaster Feb 02 '23

It took them 11 years to cancel smh

2

u/jmills03croc Feb 02 '23

This has been in the works for several years. Several other streaming services also have plans/coding in place to launch if Netflix's plans increase revenue. The CEO said he expects cancellations but also expects more people to just go ahead and pay the additional $3 a month for additional profiles.

2

u/Technophillia Feb 02 '23

Far from crazy, OP is no redditor cause they actually went through with it.

2

u/No_Set_9593 Feb 02 '23

I’ll never understand the no password sharing, when we can make separate profiles on one Netflix account. Are they just gonna get rid of that?

2

u/Kalelopaka- Feb 02 '23

Did that a while back, Netflix has sucked ass for years.

2

u/shadowdash66 Feb 02 '23

I'm turning off my account later today. Pirating was the way to go.

2

u/shadowdash66 Feb 02 '23

Its like they completely didnt factor in people that have to travel.

1

u/jedi1josh Feb 02 '23

That's pretty much my reason. My daughter went to college and can't use her own profile that's been hers for years.

5

u/Moseratti Feb 02 '23

I hate Netflix. HBO MAX is where its all at.

1

u/granfalloonracoon Feb 02 '23

I tend to agree but I am still angry at hbo for removing summercamp island, I never got to watch them all

1

u/BruhMomentum6968 Number 15 Feb 02 '23

Big whoop

0

u/Classic-Ad8849 Feb 02 '23

I'm kinda curious, why are you ending it?

-4

u/everyothernamegone Feb 02 '23

I love all these people who are pissed about the password sharing ban like Netflix should be supplementing these freeloaders.

1

u/jedi1josh Feb 02 '23

I'll explain again. My daughter and I had profiles on one account since she was 9 years old. She went off to college. Now she can't watch Netflix from her college because of this change. She's not freeloading, she's a family member who happens to be away.

1

u/Sfearox1 Feb 02 '23

I never used netflix to be honest.

1

u/WhoWantWhat187 Feb 02 '23

When i was in high school we got Netflix in the mailbox they would send them to you.

1

u/LilHotDogWater Feb 02 '23

I can’t. Next season of baki drops in June

1

u/Survive1014 Feb 02 '23

We will be cancelling when they implement sharing restrictions. We dont even use NFLX anymore, but my parents use ours. I will have to switch them over to our Paramount account.
