I didn't think it was that bad and I've had both done, but the knee...the knee is the worst. Especially the tip of the knee cap!
17
u/MakingGlassHalfFull 11d ago
For me the tendony part of the wrist is the worst. Only part to ever make me light headed
14
u/thecosmicecologist 11d ago
I got the whole inside of my forearm done and I agree, it was worse towards the wrist but also towards the inside of the elbow. I can definitely imagine behind the knee hurting. It’s like 2 different types of pain: squishy sensitive vs thin skin over bone
6
u/NoTurkeyTWYJYFM 10d ago
Goes to show how tolerances can be so different. I basically snoozed through my entire forearm being done, the only single bit that stung a bit was right in the crook of the elbow but the wrist was a walk in the park! Meanwhile I almost blacked out and had to leave my sessions getting my calves done. The artist then said she had numbing spray when I told her I was about to tap out
8
u/X3N0M4NT1S 11d ago
Armpit and back of my wrist were by far the worst spots for me. And I have my hands and fingers covered

u/pelicannpie 11d ago
It’s interesting how we all perceive the same pain differently, for me my wrists and neck didn’t hurt at all but my back killed (supposedly should be the opposite)
3
u/Vivaciousqt 11d ago
Same! My uncle the day I got my wrist done was like "omg it hurt so much hey? I was in tears!"
I was like I legit didn't feel anything after the first sting of her starting. But my back? Once she got to the fatty tissue of my left shoulderblade near my armpit I wanted to scream lmao
We seem to be the opposite of the common pain spectrum 😂
2
u/iztrollkanger 11d ago
I have one on my foot. Along the side from under the ankle bone to just before the toes.
The pinky "knuckle" was hella painful. I have a pretty high threshold for pain, but it hurt so bad I could barely keep my foot still! Basically just tattooing bone >.<

u/Onions89 11d ago
It's funny how different it is for every person. Knee ditch and knee cap honestly weren't too bad for me. Heel and top of my foot were unbelievable. I had to do breathing exercises to make it through 😂

But then you'd notice it's an eight-legged beetle

u/thundercatthecat 11d ago
The head looks like a Moellenkampi beetle, they have 3 horns. So 2 of those "legs" are part of it's head.
Edit: nvrmnd I see 2 extra legs behind the wings after opened up

Me: Sure.
[Spreads wings]
Me: Cool, what do your other tattoos do?
Tattoo girl: uh, nothing.
Me: Oh.

Reminds me of the old joke where a girl got Brigitte Bardots initials tattooed on her ass for her Bardot fanboy boyfriends birthday, he looks and asks: who's bob?
24
u/meester_pink 11d ago
I was so confused by this joke until I looked up her middle name, realized it didn’t start with an O and that her little pucker caused the bfs confusion. Also, she apparently did go by BB, so there is maybe some historical context that was missing for me too. I still don’t understand why the premise of a girl tattooing an actresses initials on her ass makes any sense, but at least I get the punchline now..
tldr; The tattoo read “B*B”

Why I’ll likely never get one. Like most things in life, pleasure dulls the more often you see it or experience it. Everyone has their favorite outfit but you wouldn’t wear that everyday. The specialness wears off and you’d likely quickly become tired of it. I think that’s what impels many to get sleeves done and to continue to get several tattoos - a new kick, a new look. Yet due to its indelible nature, the new tattoo will eventually lose its luster.

u/darcys_beard 11d ago
If I had gotten tattooed in my younger days, I'd have a superman insignia on one shoulder, a Ferrari logo on the other, and a maori design on my chest.
Sometimes I'm happy I spent all my money on booze and drugs.

Not sure why you're being downvoted. It's absolutely an amazing tattoo, but are people really going to act like beetles are aesthetically pleasing enough to cover 1/4 of your leg in one?

u/DinahTook 11d ago edited 11d ago
Beetles can absolutely be beautiful. They play such an important role in our ecosystems around the world. With so many varieties there are a wide range of marking, colors, shapes.... if someone were to keep an open mind beyond "eeeww bugs are gross" it's hard to imagine you couldn't find a beetle you found beautiful. Add in that there are folks who genuinely collect and/ or keep beetles precisely because they find them interesting and beautiful in their own ways.
Taste is absolutely subjective, but just because you can't see the beauty in something doesn't mean it isn't there for others to appreciate.

u/QuartzPigeon 11d ago
It's a matter of taste, this person you replied to thinks it's awful taste but I would genuinely get something like that if I had the money, I think a giant beetle tattoo is gorgeous. My last tattoo was a pretty good sized beetle on my forearm. I absolutely think this is great taste personally.

u/plant_man_100 11d ago
You mean you don't want half of your leg to be taken up by a massive beetle with more legs than a beetle is supposed to have?
3
u/QuartzPigeon 11d ago
I'm actually not sure why people are so caught up on the number of legs, there's a woman's face on the beetle's abdomen for gods sake. It's not supposed to be perfect realism, it's art.

Easy. Never work out

They'll have a rad tattoo on their fat leg, and this video to remind them of when it looked perfect
36
u/stockholm__syndrome 11d ago
Then the tattoo doesn’t look perfect, I guess. Bodies change, get fat or saggy or wrinkly or scarred. I doubt she’ll go around maximally flexing her knee much anyway.
21
u/MoocowR 11d ago
What happens when they start working out and their muscles get too big and the wings don’t meet up again?
Then it gets off center? What is the point of this question? Bodies change with age regardless of tattoo placement.
→ More replies13
u/Psyop1312 11d ago
Nothing. The tattoo will still look the same. If they go on HGH and gain 100 pounds then yes it will stretch and distort, but some normal muscle growth won't do anything.
3
u/everydayishalloween 11d ago
People always have to say this to people with tattoos: What about when you get old, fat, etc and it doesn't look as good... are you gonna regret it?
The answer is always they don't care, so maybe the rest of us shouldn't either.

u/CrazyHorseSizedFrog 11d ago
I actually thought the same thing but all that would do is prevent her from showing the gimmick part of the tattoo, it still looks pretty cool when her leg is straight anyway.

I personally wouldn’t want a giant beetle taking up half my body, but if she loves it then good for her. Tattoos are very subjective, and as many people love it, there is just as many that hate it. Best to get what you like and not worry about the judgement of others.
